Border Table by Nendo

Border Table is a minimalist design created by Tokyo-based designers Nendo. The collection was created for a solo exhibition held at the “EYE OF GYRE,” a gallery in Omotesando during Tokyo Designers Week 2015. The designs utilize the element of space as a part of its structure, seamlessly blending into the corners or edges of walls.

The difficulty of creating a mass production design is its intrinsic inevitability of having an “average specification” that can respond to various situations. The designers wanted to create an object that would still be utilized within numerous environments, but with a unique and functional aspect that forms a relationship between the space and itself.

Border Table is a series of mysterious tables that consist of a 5mm square metal rod with a small tabletop measuring a radius of 100mm attached to it. Within this particular gallery space, the designs are placed in varying locations, whether they are situated on the corner of a plinth, or around a circular column, their arrangements are unique within their own respect.
