Colombia’s Casa 5 by Arquitectura en Estudio

Arquitectura en Estudio designed Casa 5, a private, 560 square meter (approx. 6027 square foot) residence in La Reserva de Potosi, La Calera, Colombia. Once inside the two story home’s entrance, a large, glass-enclosed central courtyard comes into view, which wraps the internal circulation around it.

The house stands 2750 meters above sea level, which creates unbelievable views of the surrounding mountains and valley, as well as the lake. With the area’s year-round cold weather, the house was designed with floor-to-ceiling windows that allow the sun to help warm the interior.

Besides helping to bring heat into the home, the large windows keep the interior bright with natural light.

The frameless windows that surround the interior patio give uninterrupted views of the greenery that’s planted there.

The public areas are located in the south wing of the house, which is closer to the entrance. The double-height living room is flanked by windows on two sides making it appear visually larger.
