Jyoushin House is a minimalist residence located in Aiti, Japan, designed by Noriyoshi Morimura Architect & Associates. The facade features a sleek concrete structure outfitted with glass fixtures spanning the length of the upper level. The entrance of the home is set dramatically away from the street to serve as a boundary between the public and private spaces.
A metal gate is positioned at the front as a replacement to where the main entrance would have been situated, and becomes a barrier to allow for privacy within the front courtyard. Due to the recessed entrance, the kitchen and dining area are immediately visible and accessible upon entering the home.
The exposed concrete seamlessly transitions from the exterior into the interior architecture, an aesthetic juxtapose to the smoked wood texture of the walls and furniture. The architects were careful to arrange the living spaces far enough to maximize privacy, while still within reach of natural lighting.
