Max Lamb Gives Traditional Ceramics a Contemporary Twist

Italian company Bitossi Ceramiche has a rich history of crafting ceramics using traditional production methods and as of late, they’ve been bringing on various designers to bring a fresh perspective. Just recently, they enlisted the talent of British designer Max Lamb to give their age-old techniques a contemporary spin. The result is a trio of colorful vases with a unique zigzag pattern on the surfaces.

The rectangular vessels were made by first wire cutting slabs of clay to create the sides of the box-like forms. Then using a wiggle wire, the exteriors are gone over to form the wave-like textured surfaces before being glazed.
