MOUS Unveils Narrative Arc: Volume II – A Cosmic Exploration of Craft + Form

Tanner Moussa and Mackenzie Lewis, the creative force behind MOUS, have never shied away from bold ideas. Since their debut in 2022, the third-generation furniture designers have consistently blurred the lines between art, architecture, and function, pushing the boundaries of material and form. Now, with the release of Narrative Arc: Volume II, MOUS takes their signature approach even further, crafting a collection that merges ancient architectural influences with celestial inspiration in new, unexpected ways.

Volume II builds on the foundation laid by its predecessor with new materials, forms, and finishes. The collection includes stylish benches, accent tables, large case goods, accessories, and seating – each one inviting interaction, curiosity, and discovery. At the heart of the collection is a fascination with materiality. The pieces range from lacquered faux parchment to hand-applied eggshell, burl wood, and straw marquetry – all expertly manipulated by artisans who bring a modern perspective to traditional techniques.

The collection highlights the contrast between materials, pairing burnished brass with dark burl wood, and chocolate lacquer with hand-applied eggshell. These material juxtapositions reflect MOUS’s exploration of textures and surfaces. The clean lines and neutral palette also allow the collection’s material innovations to take center stage.

Inspired by the cosmos, MOUS combines curvilinear silhouettes and angular edges that define Volume II. These forms evoke celestial bodies, constellations, and ancient astrology, as well as notable architecture and design periods.
