Post House Coastal Tavern + Inn by Basic Projects

Post House is a minimalist boutique hotel located in Charleston, South Carolina, designed by Kate and Ben Towill of Basic Projects. The historic restaurant received a complete top-down renovation, which now consists of a ground-floor tavern and bar along with seven cozy hotel rooms located above.

In addition to the restaurant is a second floor private events space dubbed the “Rose Room,” outfitted with a bar and a plethora of large glazings bringing in plenty of light during the day. The hotel is a marriage of historic charm and modern amenities.

Kate Towill, who lead the design for the project, reimagined the space by moving the bar to face Pitt Street, while the main dining room moved to the back, which opened up the outdoor courtyard. Each space is outfitted with a unique layer of vintage rugs, handcrafted fixtures and local art – in which they partnered with Charleston Art Collective.
