How genius is this 2012 Rocking Chair Sculpture Calendar by Katsumi Tamura for Good Morning, Inc.? It is designed to sit on your desk and it even rocks back and forth like a real rocking chair. The design is meant to symbolize a relaxing way to measure the passage of time, i.e., rocking. The current month sits on the back of the chair while the other months are stored on the seat. The chair assembles easily and stands 4.75″ tall x 2.75″ wide.

I like calendars. I like calendars with unique design. However, I also think that a calendar should be usable. Or forget about it being a calendar, just consider it a piece of art. Think some amazing designs you’ve seen for clocks and watches. I bought a couple of v. cool-looking watches. The design got me. But then wearing and/or telling time became another matter.
So this is an interesting, unique design for a calendar. Not so interesting or unique for a rocker. Though if placed on my desk, with Business Barbie (full-fantasy mode, with glasses, etc.) perched fetchingly on the edge of the chair, I perhaps would find the rocking chair calendar more, ummm, compelling.

I had the 2011 version. It sat on my shelf. I have retired it now but as Jim points out, it didn’t get used as a calendar. I miss its little chairiness.
