Felt and acoustic brand FilzFelt has been at the forefront of innovative solutions to reduce sound for years with their German-milled 100% Wool Design Felt. Also known for their collaborations, the brand recently partnered with Vanessa Busemann and Felix Zebi, of German design collective Cabs Design, on a folded acoustic module system called Scale.
Scale is a system of modules that are made of cut and folded acoustic fiber composite with a 100% wool felt front, in your choice of 63 colorways. With so many colors available, a custom pattern can be created to cover any wall or a portion of one. The backs are a dark gray color, which helps create a shadow for added dimensionality. The slotted design easily allows the components to fit together and stay together securely with the help of the friction of the material. The three-dimensional modules come in two sizes and connect to walls with magnetic attachment hardware.
The design came about just three years ago when Busemann and Zebi were taking an interior design class at the University of Applied Sciences Mainz in Germany. Their assignment was to explore the possibilities of textile fiber composites and the result was Scale. After successfully exhibiting the project at design fairs, they collaborated with FilzFelt to bring it to the market.
