Silhouette Rugs Have Their Eye on You

Colorful, abstract, and playful, nanimarquina’s second rug collaboration with Jaime HayonSilhouette – features the artist’s casual style. Hayon’s illustrative stroke depicts nine different characters and their personalities as they coexist in the design’s composition. His attentive eye has laid out the faces so that the rug can be viewed from any angle, in any space.

Of the process Hayon says, “This happens in very exceptional cases in which the format, material, and use are ideal to portray emotivism through the figurative. Rugs for nanimarquina are the perfect example; the format is ideal to be able to work with absolute freedom, similar to a painting or a tapestry.”

This collaboration introduces two firsts for nanimarquina, the first using the embroidery on kilim technique. Handmade in Pakistan, a laborious chain stitch adds texture and soft volume that emphasizes Hayon’s subtle use of color. The indoor rug’s sturdy nature makes it ideal for both residential and commercial use, it can also be hung vertically as a wall tapestry. nanimarquina also presents their first hand-tufted outdoor rug, made with 100% recycled PET fiber and produced in India.
