Jean Nouvel is one of the most prestigious and celebrated architects of our time. He recently presented his new line of furniture, Simplissimo, for French-based furniture company Ligne Roset. The collection includes a chaise lounge, fireside chair, footstool, banquette, and bench.
As the name implies, the furniture is built on a simple steel tubular structure. Specifically, the materials that were used consisted of soldered tubular steel, MDF, and plywood for the back panel. Comfort of the seating arises from an overlaid Polyurethane foam sitting on a sheet of grooved polypropylene.
I love it when a design goes back to the basics. Simplissimo doesn’t use state-of-the-art materials with an organically eccentric aesthetic; the design has clarity and character built into its simple matte black frame.

Except for the legs, this looks like an inclined bench press seat. Reminds me of my old weightlifting days.

I like !
“Just the necessary to be fonctionnal” leads to this kind of beautiful design.
And sorry for my (very) bad english.
