The coffee table that made our jaws drop a couple of years ago has been adapted into one of the most dramatic dining tables we’ve ever seen. Designed by Christopher Duffy of Duffy London, the Abyss Dining Table will make you feel like you’re floating on the sea and staring down into the mesmerizing deep blue waters as you’re sitting around it.
After a year of development, where they experimented with sculpture glass, Plexiglas, and wood, layered to resemble a geological map, they were able to capture the essence of the ocean.
From Christopher Duffy:
I was looking into sheets of thick glass at my glass manufacturer’s factory, and noticed how the material darkened as they added more layers – the same way the sea does as it deepens. I wanted to use this effect to replicate a real piece of the earth’s sea bed. Like a mythical power had lifted a perfect rectangle straight from the earth’s crust to use as his personal ornament.
The Abyss Dining Table is handmade to order from sustainable materials and is limited to an edition of just 25 total.

This is amazing! I want one, but knowing how much a single piece of cut glass can cost I hate to think how much this would cost! Wait… yeah £28,500. Maybe next year :\

I feel like I’d get vertigo eating on it.
