Designed for Porro, Alessandro Mendini created two inlaid sideboards where wood becomes the decoration. Porro stepped away from their typical minimalism and let the Italian designer do his thing with Maggio and Schermo. Using three different types of wood – elm, oak, and acacia – the fronts of the pieces become geometric compositions, elevating the sideboard to works of art and not just storage units. Each piece comes with a maple interior and elements made from pliable brass, bronze, and inox steel.
Schermo is a square cabinet that sits on a base and features a sloping hinged door.
The taller and much more narrow Maggio is a chest of drawers topped off with a mirror on top. It has two pullout trays and six large drawers to hold all of your wares.

It would be good to include the price with articles like this. It’s a unique piece that could be $800 or $8000 – makes a big difference to how interested I am in it!
