The Beauty of The Canyon Collection Is in the Unexpected Details

Los Angeles-based designer Natalie Myers of Veneer Designs is known for her distinctive #scandifornianstyle, an aesthetic that mixes both the ease of coastal life with the minimalism and clean lines of Scandinavian design. Always a proponent of creating unexpected moments in her interior projects, Myers carried the same mindset through her furniture collaboration with Mike Kussman of SLTWTR Co. The Canyon Collection, named after the winding streets nestled in the Santa Monica foothills, highlights the beauty of the materials and subtle details, including chamfered edges, turned legs, and contrasting wood tones. Designed for homes of any style, the Canyon Collection is both sophisticated yet unpretentious.

The Ashfood Side Table is very on-trend with its curved leg forms, but the piece will no doubt stand the test of time. Inspired by Tobias Scarpa, the table features chunky chamfered edges that challenged the craftsmanship and ingenuity of the joinery. A tiled marble tray adorns the surface as a bespoke tabletop.

Similarly, the Saltair Chair echoes the same style with its curved arms that seem to transform into the thicker walnut legs. The latter is a signature style of SLTWTR Co., along with the walnut support spindles in the back support.

The low-profile Benmore Coffee Table takes a turn for the better. The three, thick-turned legs challenge the norm of typical coffee tables with four legs, and pushes the notion even more with the one wildcard leg. Designed with an end cap and darker stain, it’s “a reminder to celebrate the details that set us apart from the crowd.”

Following the Benmore’s cue, the Bentley Desk is an organic, boomerang-shaped desk with its own attention-commanding support. The dark turned leg stands on its own side apart from the two remaining blond dowel legs.

Finally, for those who prefer symmetrical proportions, the Westridge Nightstand keeps it simple but unexpected with its bold walnut-rounded rectangular handle. The curves of this element are repeated in the curved frame and the four squat dowel legs.
