Designers continue to show us how to put the fun in functional, this time with kint’s puffa system, designed by collaborator Rostyslav Sorokovyi. Already a best-seller in the brand’s native Ukraine, the modular seating collection stepped into the international spotlight at Maison&Objet 2024 in front of an excited crowd of attendees. kint presented alongside seven other modern Ukrainian furniture and decor brands as part of the Ukrainian Design Brands collective. The puffa armchair was ultimately selected by exhibitor creators to participate in “What’s New? In Decor,” where the hottest pieces of the show are included.

puffa is a two-in-one, a pouf, and a sofa. The name of the collection arose from the combination of these words at the time. The puffa system is upholstered furniture with an accentuated form, suitable for public spaces, where the modularity of the system can showcase itself in the best way.

The puffa system can be found in numerous residential and commercial spaces in Ukraine, as it’s become quite the novelty. Consisting of 16 modules of different sizes, the adaptable seating can be almost anything you wish: sofa, armchair, pouf, or bench. It’s as simple as increasing or decreasing the amount of sections being used, transforming in minutes to make seats deeper or furniture pieces larger. The assembly process couldn’t be easier and doesn’t require any additional tools for set up. Modules can be customized through color and fabric type (boucle and velvet), allowing for a minimal and elegant or bold and exciting aesthetic. Mix, match, and enjoy the process! The final piece of the puffa system is the complementary max side table, which can be installed in between modules wherever you’d like.

Using their own manufacturing facilities, kint has been partnering with Ukrainian designers to create furniture, decorative objects, and accessories since 2020. “Object design in Ukraine is rapidly evolving, with many interesting and talented designers emerging. We aim to collaborate with them, produce their designs, and showcase them on the world design stage,” says Max Voytenko, creative director of kint. This desire to further promote Ukrainian design has led to kint’s products now being available worldwide, with the exceptions of Russia, Belarus, and Iran.
