Watch This Designer Live Stream His Design Process

With transparency being such a buzzword these days, designer Alejandro Sticotti is taking the word to heart with a whole new way of sharing his craft – through live streaming. Partnering with SUDACAS, Alejandro created two essential objects, a handcrafted, modular, and sustainable bookshelf and coat rack using certified wood from South American forests, that he makes before your very eyes.

From the designer:

Livestreaming the entire process was my way of sharing the story of my craft and showing how meticulously each piece is made. It allows me to have a direct connection with the end user. I can make them participants in my process and allow them to witness the creation of each piece they order. I never felt so excited about the possibility to have such a direct interaction with the people that are bringing my pieces into their homes and lives, it gives me a more meaningful level of personal accomplishment.

The minimalist bookshelf was created using a unique modular system, where each piece connects through a precise interlocking system. This makes it easier for the user to add on more pieces or customize it further to fit their desires. The coat rack was inspired by Japanese joinery, where no nails or screws connect the pieces – rather, they hold together through self-sustaining joints.
