Sweet Cake by Beerd van Stokkum is a gigantic muffin cake case that serves a multitude of purposes. The case is made out of a thick synthetic material that makes it suitable for re-use (indoors and outdoors). It can be utilized as a flower box, basket for your pet, a place for storage, and more.
If you ever wanted an outrageously gigantic pickle jar replica, you can have one now thanks to DADADA Studio. The designers came out with some interior accessory “wannabes” that can be placed on the walls around your home for pure fun. The high quality images are printed on plastic and they function nicely when you hang them in clever places. Personally, I’d put the security camera “wannabe” on the bathroom wall pointing to the toilet.
“Stereotype” is a door designed by Kazutoyo Yamamoto of Dessence Co, Ltd. The door has just a doorknob with no lock. However, the door still has secure features, even though it doesn’t have a traditional lock. The idea is that stereotypes have driven design to associate “security” with a lock. The door has been designed so that the only way to forcibly enter is to destroy the door.
Nowadays plenty of celebrities have their own signature perfumes and clothing lines. On the other hand, Pharrell Williams, of The Neptunes and N*E*R*D fame, has his own furniture designs. This chair is one of them — the other, is also as ridiculous. The “tank wheels” are made out of plexiglass and the chair seat is made out of full grain colt leather. The design will be on display at the Galerie Emmanuel Perrotin next week during Art Basel Miami.

Taxidermy. It is, without a doubt, our biggest personal design pet-peeve of all time. And we know we’re not alone. We know there are plenty of you out there who are just as repulsed by taxidermy as we are. And yet taxidermy, in all its creepy glory, has been making a comeback in recent years. Some might contend that the taxidermy trend has jumped the shark; but sadly, from what we can see, this sickly resurgence is still in full-swing. And to make the trend even more palatable, taxidermy even has a new, cool-sounding name: “Antiquarian Chic.” But however you dress it up, it’s still taxidermy. And it still sucks. But seriously, who knew there were so many disturbing variations on this theme?
Yes, that is actually the name of this bookcase designed by Ron Arad, a designer based in the United Kingdom. I was browsing the content posted by people I follow on Tumblr, and I discovered this bookshelf that unites books in a very interesting way. It was apart of an exhibition held in London at the Timothy Taylor Gallery awhile back. Unfortunately, it isn’t buyable, but at least you can still imagine the many possibilities with it.
