5 Ways to Pamper Your Pup on National Dog Day + Beyond

Tomorrow, August 26th, is National Dog Day which made us think it’s a good time to celebrate our four-legged friends. They bring us joy 365 days a year so it’s the least we can do to show our appreciation now. But let’s be honest – we dog lovers show our appreciation well beyond National Dog Day but it can’t hurt to show them some extra extra love! Read on to get some ideas on how to pamper your pup today, tomorrow and every day after.

1. Help Your Pup Look and Feel Their Best
Some dogs require more grooming than others, but they all need a good brushing on a regular basis at the minimum. It helps with shedding hair everywhere and from their coat getting too matted. Plus you want them looking fresh when they’re strutting down the block on their next walk.

2. Take Your Pup Out for Some Much Needed Exercise
Exercise for pups is just as important as it is for us humans. Otherwise they’re most likely wild and chewing up your stuff due to too much energy and no way to get it out. Prep them for their walk with a matching leash and collar, and don’t forget the poop bags!

3. Keep Them Dry, Keep Them Warm and Keep Them in Style
The weather seems to have a mind of its own – one day it’s cool and rainy and the next day it’s hot and sunny. Stay prepared by having all their gear near the door so you can grab it on the way out, whether it’s a raincoat, sweater or just a cute bow tie.

4. Keep Them Entertained With a New Toy
Pups have endless amounts of energy, especially in the early years and if you don’t keep them entertained with toys, they’re going to turn your favorite shoe into a toy. A toy that your dog can chew with something you can grab makes for a fun game of tug of war.

5. Give Them Sweet Dreams All Night Long
Every dog deserves a good night of sleep, and probably 5 naps throughout the day. While they can sometimes be content catching zzz’s on the hard floor, a soft, cozy bed is where it’s at. Who knows, maybe it will keep them out of your bed.
