Celebrate National Puzzle Day With Our Favorite Modern Jigsaw Puzzles

In case you didn’t know, tomorrow is National Puzzle Day! Now of all the unofficial social media holidays (see: National Coffee Day, Houseplant Appreciation Day, and so on), National Puzzle Day is undoubtedly one of our favorites – because on top of the valuable mental exercise they provide, puzzles are a great way to disconnect from the sensory overload of our phone and laptop screens, de-stress, and get lost in a meditative challenge while solo or with a group. The best part? When you’re done, you’ll have your very own piece of modern art to hang on your wall – and bragging rights to boot. We rounded up our favorite modern jigsaw puzzles that puzzle pros and newbies will love!

Don’t be put off by the puzzle’s 1,000 pieces either – its distinct colors, patterns, and shapes make it easily accessible for new and experienced puzzlers alike. Bonus: with every sale, Goodfit donates a portion of the proceeds to charities of the artists’ choosing!

Palmetto Swing Puzzle by WerkShoppe

Palmetto Swing Puzzle by WerkShoppe

In Palmetto Swing, artist Mary Singleton celebrates the creative spirit – wild, dynamic, and full of color and energy. Singleton’s abstract swipes of rich kaleidoscopic shades catch your eye and take on a modern, mosaic-like quality that makes putting it together as fun as admiring the big picture. At 1,000 pieces, we recommend taking on this puzzle as a team, but solo puzzlers with time and patience to spare will appreciate the challenge!

Tangled Puzzle by Four Point Puzzles

Influenced by the Bauhaus aesthetic and 90s nostalgia, Vratislav Pecka’s Tangled Puzzle uses bold interwoven lines and vibrant colors to captivate viewers – inviting them to trace each line to its beginning. A mild but gratifying challenge at 1,000 pieces, the graphic simplicity of the Tangled Puzzle makes it accessible to puzzlers of all levels (there’s plenty of opportunities for satisfying puzzle piece streaks!) and adds a playful pop of color to your walls once complete.

Disco Queen Puzzle by Piecework Puzzles

Disco Queen Puzzle by Piecework Puzzles

At 500 pieces, Piecework Puzzles’ Disco Queen is “tons of fun,” but “harder than it looks,” according to Design Milk reviewer, Susan. It just so happens that all of the things that make Disco Queen insanely beautiful to the eye, make it a blast to piece together – the modern maximalist scene full of prismatic glasses, sparkling streamers, and mirrored surfaces make every matching piece cause for celebration. Pair this puzzle with a playlist and a few pals to help you out, and you’ve got yourself a party!
