Tubelor Flat20 is a minimalist design created by Japan-based company Ideaco. Consistent with the company’s past waste bins, the main purpose of the Flat20 is to hide the unsightly trash bag from view. Flat20 is constructed of polypropylene and ABS resin. The product is currently available in white, black, blue, and pink.
While preparing meals, it is very common to have excess waste from produce, which can cause foul odors or create a greasy mess if not disposed properly. As a result, the designers wanted to create a product that would not only effectively mask smells, but also have an intuitive and accessible design.
The Tubelor Flat20 allows the user to easily dispose of waste by simply pressing the top surface. In addition, if the user’s fingers are dirty from preparing food, they can easily use other parts of their hand to open the lid. The designers wanted to keep the profile of the bin as low as possible in order to have it fit in small compact spaces if needed.
