GDG Studios is the New Jersey-based design studio run by Joseph Gower who creates handmade porcelain objects with a contemporary twist. The Crochet and Styroware pieces are so unique and completely fun to stare at. I love the textures and shapes that he creates along with the added touches of gold or silver and even cotton.

We stumbled upon the work of Christopher Marley while at High Point Market this year and we’re sure glad we did. His Pheromone collection incorporates everything from insects, fossils, crystals, and even feathers. For 15 years, he has been collecting and arranging these pieces by hand. Each insect or object is laid out symmetrically and become studies in both color and scale.

The students from the Department of Interior Architecture at Rhode Island School of Design have created a collection entitled Prototyping the Domestic Environment currently being exhibited in Milan at Salone del Mobile 2012. The five works are interactive and multi-functional with the focus on “the formal adaptation of utilitarian furniture pieces into domestic spatial components.” Each object is not only a functioning interior piece, but they also act as adjustable devices for play, i.e., “tactile or optical sensory exploration or kinetic transformation.” The designs are well thought out, as well as being aesthetically pleasing with their geometric attributes.

Whisper is an acoustic panel that was created by Finnish designer Tapio Anttila for Woodnotes. Designed to eliminate sound problems for any space, these panels come in different sizes and colors. The panels are made from an acoustic cellulose fiberboard that is upholstered in a classic cotton fabric from Woodnotes.
