The chair, pouf, and rugs by MYK are made of fun and colorful pom-poms, otherwise known as the “bommel” in German, that are bound to make anyone feel like a kid again. Each pom-pom is made entirely by hand and with each object containing up to 1300 of them, they are definitely a labor of love.

I’ve seen lots of carpets, mats, and flooring that looks like pebbles. And when I first saw Neora Zigler’s Pebble Carpet, I thought, what’s different about this one?

Well, Zigler’s indoor carpet is actually made out of pebbles,each individually sewn inside of the fabric to form the carpet. Now, that’s something I hadn’t seen before!

Milan-based architect Kostantia Manthou was so obsessed with a sky-pattern sticker last year that she created a rug based on the design. She says of the pattern, “I was literally covering every object and surface in my house [with it].” As for the subtle mosaic, that came afterwards, out of her interest in “the oldest and more traditional manual pixelization forms.” Later, she decided to do an opposing design of her clouded sky, “for the sake of duality,” and thus was borne the Sky/Earth carpets.

Charlotte Lancelot partnered with Gandia Blasco’s GAN division on a new collection of rugs launched at this year’s Maison & Objet show in Paris. Using cross-stitch patterns, Lancelot reinterpreted an age-old traditional craft into something completely new and exciting.

These days, what isn’t Karim Rashid putting his signature on? He’s partnered up with BoConcept on a new line that launches this March, called The Ottawa Collection. I’m looking forward to this, as it seems to be a great way to get your hands on some affordable design from the master of contemporary design. The collection includes everything from dining tables and chairs to rugs to tableware.

The Japan Collection rugs designed by Enrique Eguino for Alfombras Veo Veo are inspired by Japanese locations, culture, and tradition. They pixelate an image and create these fun rugs that at first glance look like they are designed with random colors.
